These are a few examples of the style in which I will be creating my environment, I want to make it quite comic styled, but still retaining a lot of detail.

The Long awaited.. 385 Project 2

After a considerable amount of trouble getting this project to A: not be lost in the post, or B: open in unity, I finally have my project completed.

For this project I wanted to make an environment for my character from project one, who was a beast that had to maneuver landscapes with great caution, as his great size would crush most of the terrain that was around him. I made a space which would appear to be a very difficult landscape to maneuver, and developed itself as a maze of sorts, as you moved throughout the environment. In the end it became an alien looking thorny landscape, with a great spore like plant in the middle in which would be the centre of attention for the space.

I used the reference of spore for the look and feel of my environment, in such areas as the thorny composition, and the comically sized plant in the centre.

Greg Duckett Project 3 Proposal

My Proposal for project 3 is based around my character I developed for project1. It will be a puzzle/adventure game where the user will be asked to rethink the way normal character control works. In order to successfully complete this game, the user will have to develop skills that involve controlling two entities at the same time, and using each separate entity to solve different puzzles in order to progress in the game.

Bil and Nik

Bil and Nik are brothers, and mighty Elchet, giant beings who roam their comparably tiny planet. For centuries their race has lived undisturbed, free to explore the dark jungles and grassy plains that make up Marconia. This was, until the intergalactic space board decided Marconia was a waste of space, and had it destroyed in place of a 'Saturn's Ring Megamall'. Several days before, Yag, the wisest of the Elchet, had sensed that something terrible was about to happen to their wonderful home, he knew that there was nothing he could do to stop this terrible deed, but he knew he couldn't let the last of the Elchet be destroyed forever. In a flash of divine light Bil and Nik, the youngest of the Elchet, were transported through space, and ended up (as chance would have it) on a viewing platform planet overlooking the imminent destruction of Marconia.

Armed with only an unbreakable brotherly bond, Bil's brute strength and Nik's cunning and wit. You must fight your way to the intergalactic council for bloody vengeance and to show the evil Spacelords that the Elchet will never be forgotten..

Game Features:

- Unique play style, switch from controlling Bil or Nik, or the bonded Elchet form, to controlling each brother at the same time, in order to progress the story.

- Certain puzzles only completable by using various forms, either using Bil's strength to muscle through the obstacles, or Nik's cunning and wit to outsmart or deceive the opponent.

- Vast landscape of planets and space stations, all relatively small compared to the giant mass of the Elchet.

Spore

Lately I have been looking at the game Spore, a game by Will Wright, who is famous for such games as The Sims. I found it very interesting how the game changes itself entirely depending on what stage in the evolutionary cycle you are at. When you first start the game, you are given the task of choosing the appearance and characteristics of your entity, as your entity evolves, it becomes more complex and starts to form a colony, so the game shifts stance to being more focussed on controlling a small group of entities, and then through further evolution you are given the task of controlling an entire race of what you initially created. Finally, at the space stage, you start to explore other worlds with your race of beings, dominate or make friends with other civilizations.

I like the way that they have thought about this game, starting from the universe and zooming in as much as they can, so you have to interact with things on the microscopic scale, eventually zooming out to a global, and universal scale. Also, the controls are different depending on what stage you are at, starting at very basic controls of your entity at the initial phase, and eventually leading onto control of your entire world.
